"Lights & Shadows - No. 21"

The flowing smoothness of multiple surfaces converging in a triangular composition caress the eyes in a fashion that is not unlike when a person is trying to draw something by life observation. Unlike that of a square shape, the diagonal configuration forces upon the eye kinetic qualities, thereby subjecting the audience to a constant visual shift in an attempt to find a resting place, in this case, either at the point of convergence or outside the picture altogether.  The gradient shadows which exemplify the movement of the shape refocuses the eye upon entering an area of darkness, a play between the exterior's dismissibility (due to the fact that the surface on which the light touch upon curves out, therefore drawing the eye outward, away from the centre) and the interior's mystery.

"Morning Traces"

Ambiguous in its nature, both in term of scale and its actual meaning, "Morning Traces"is taken to suggest the presence of an action that has passed away and is no longer in existence. Like the texture of a bed whose mattresses are turned over to allow for the emptying of its occupants, the white landscape bears marks which serves as the only evidence for what might have happened under or on top of it the night before. The glaring sun, however, signifies the coming of the action's end, and, like the snow of the Rocky Mountains which completely melts away in the summer, will also have its traces, at last, be taken away among the midst of a new day.

"Cascade"

A simple gesture towards the speed and rhythm of intimate interactions, the piece depicts a series of barricades set at varying intervals along a downward sloping floor line. At its most superficial level, the series of compressions and rarefactions of the lines gives off a sense of vibration and continuous energy, a rhythm that is forever going until one arrives at the end of the slope.

"Gravity"

"Put your lips close to mine
As long as they don't touch
Out of focus eye to eye
till' the gravity's too much

And I'll do anything you say
if you say it with your hands
and i'll be smart enough to walk away
but you're a quick sand"
