The protagonist of this photo is obviously the flare of sunlight. The brightness is very striking and creates an impact that is strong enough to make me squint my eyes at the first glance. Along with its emergence from the edge of the glass roof, it generates curiosity and expectancy.
The straight lines and patterns of the planes of two adjacent high-rised buildings here give a sense of direction. The lines in perspective, as they get closer to each other causes tension. However, the gleam of yellow light in the right corner diverts our direction of sight and somehow further emphasize the tension at the top of the building with the contrast in brightness.
This photo again is directional. The symmetry, perspective and contrast all adds up to it being very directional. The white in the middle of the photo is very conspicuous and consumed all the attention whilst looking at it. The numerous black dots look like they are making a progression towards us which results an unsettling feeling.
Without knowing what the photo is showing, it surely brings out curiosity. This is actually a photo of a ceiling overlay with overlapping shadows. The shadows having blurry edges make it that much harder to identify the photo, thus emphasized that curiosity and the desire to seek out the truth. Not only that, but it gives a sense of uncertainty and impermanence because of the lingering shadows, which is a little unnerving.
