Imm's proposal: Nana Cooking & Dancing Studio

Nana Cooking & Dancing Studio draws the prospect of shophouse that will "Break down social barrier" which is inspired the erotic idea from project2. The studio provides courses of international cooking and dancing studies. The activities will create fun, lively, friendly that will make people know each others and become friends. The studio tends to create the whole building to be public space and haves transition space that interact and connect all of the five floors together as same as connect everyone together.

My first scene starts from the book called 'Shophouse', the truck drives into the city which have the free land to build to be a 3 stories shophouse. Later, I start to choose the object for making my house. The stop motion shows how to build a model and which area is use for such as first floor for commerce area and upper floor for residential area.

My model is a three stories shophouse. By using fold technique to represent as a book and it can fold out from each other in the middle for a section. I use charn-oy as a main material mixed with brown color for micro details. Also, bossa wood for columns and foam core for floors.

Im's documentation and post-analysis on Desire

The final production comes out by most using black fabric as a main material for covering light and show the light. The doll was sticked to the gate. And the opposite of the gate was a spotlight that has a corrugate box as a frame. The light come across through a hole from  the doll. You can see it more clearly on the video ' Final Production'.

As I mention before my erotic can describe into 3 words ; Imagination, emotion and desire. When you walk into this room, the only outstanding point is the light in front of you. It likes the 'Hope of Light' that shine to people. It brings you to walk toward to it, want to touch it and kiss it. But actually it's not there. I use light to draw people to walk toward to the door and kiss the door (kiss the architecture). In addition, it seems as a people who have desire for something such as they want to go across something for seeing their lovers, family, friends and others. But there's some point you can not go there. Because you don't rich enough, you come from different society or you don't have much social connection. It is a DESIRE OF PEOPLE. Also, a red gate is representative of a barrier as money, social status, education that make you can't get what you want. The human doll is a unisex doll which can be any person. The hole is the middle is cut around the heart which is the main area for sending all of those feeling.

Experiment

I did experiment about fabric and how soft it is. By make a surway question 'Which one do you think is the most comfortable one?' By putting in different materials. Turn out the third one is the most popular (cotton and synthetic fabric). So I use this material to make hand made human doll in 1:1 scale.

 When I think about about erotic, my first description come out in 3 words ; imagination, emotional and desire. Erotic arouses people to use their own imagination and their thought by themselves to think something that it may not happen or impossible to happen. And I like the way Marina used her installation to create an interesting experience with audience. (Participation and Interaction between works and people) 

My concept is about touching experience, I think touching is one of the best sense of human. My first idea is about touching on a wall with difference materials and let's people to imagine by themselves. The things they touch may not the things they thought it would be. Also, music will gives feeling to the touching be more obvious. My ideas has been develop several times, also touching and experiencing it a box as well. After, it became the idea of shocking and unexpectable moment. For example, people will concentrate to the thing they are going to touch, but when they put a hand in, there is nothing. But the loud or scary voice turn on instead.

Im's research on Marina Abramovic & Doug Atiken

 I interest in both of Marina and Doug. For Marina I impress the way she lets people be a part of her installation and let them experience. For ' Art is present' that people were encourage to sit across her and be her player. So this is my starting point that I work people to participate in my installation. For Doug Aitken is quite interesting as well. Mostly he did about sound installation. His music remixes from many sound which give people different feelings. From low to high emotion. So I use the idea of music installation to be a part of my installation.

I can feel complexity from lines and angles, it makes contrast and mysterious feeling.

This is a ceiling of building, it has both curve and contrast that join together.

A photo has a balance by using reflection from the mirror. Actually I really like this photo because it has something inside simplicity. I feel like I want to walk in this place closely and look carefully.

When I took this photo, I’m thinking of woman’s curve like chest, waist and hip.

The curve line of woman is very interesting and attractive.
