The installation was aim to expressed the feeling between men and women throughout a private symbol in public space, this symbol is a toilet seat which can be found in both men and women restroom. 

Installation

My installation is made out of different height of wooden stands stick with LED sign made by future board and small led light (about 450 light bulbs)

When the stands are rearrange in order and look in one perspective (by sitting and couching), the perspective creates an image of a toilet seat

Location

 

The main site location is located on the 4th floor infront of a women restroom. The reason i chose this site is because there is a bench infront of the women restroom door.

Additional site

When the building light was turnoff, the light of my installation illuminated in the dark and creates a floating illusion in a space. The idea of putting my art piece into other areas was to see the different light effect in those area.

 In addition since the work can be seen from many different angle it was quite amusing to see the audiences figure out where's the right perspective is.

Artist Analysis

Pipilotti Rist

Pipilotti Rist is a contemporary artist; her works express the feminists of women through out gesture and skin texture. Her works were mostly be shown by video projections on white walls or screenings. The idea is to create a space using geometrical shape inside a room which is a cube. Most of her color choice are saturated color.

 These works example of Rist were created to shows that as a human we can use technology differenty from how it was made to do.

                                                                                                                                                                                  

Matthew Barney

Matthew Barney works is a contrast to Pipilotti Rist concept of expressing Feminists. However his works were more into showing men emotions toward sex which are showed in his movie “The Cremester Cycle”.
Most of the art presented in his film were using primary color to create contrast between the main focus object. In addition complimentary color were used as well.
