Projection

Analysis:

From the post-production, the audience tend to be attracted first when projection appeared on the screens, when their eyes had adapted to the darkness. However, once a moment passed by there is nothing seem alluring until there occurs activities outside. For instance, There was a student walked to the bathroom from another elevator next by. The moment was quite provocative and lucid. The image from the projection appears in layers where the scenery is stationary and seen as the background where it contributes to the activities of the moving people in front of the elevator.

During the presentation, due to the crowds and calamity that going on because of the other projects installation and the end of school hours, I have failed to compare the situations between the upper and lower level. However, on the later installation, I have found that with the installation barricading direct visual perception, the viewers notices and observes every detail of activities occurs on the projection regardless of how generic the activities were.There were people carrying foods where the contour on the projection showed ambiguity which made viewers focus on who/what is going on outside.

Each activities has made expressive to be noticed and erect different curiosity. This installation, by providing in indirect perception of routine has made expressive in the way architecture has always been kissed by their users.

Erotic Architecture

1.      Seduction

This is the image or parking exit located behind the Shangri-La hotel. I somehow found fascination within contradiction of various elements within this space. The curvy shape of sidewalk along with the gloomy shadow glowing from the approaching imperceptible void is sensationally mysterious, provoking, and daring in a way. It induce curiosity to the passerby whose happens to follow the path along the huge chuck of skyscraping wall masked by countless tiles prohibition subjective perception but to follow the path. The path then smoothly flows into the void where there appears a neoclassical yet minimal crafting which indicates very inviting gesture to the void. However, at a conscious of non-architecture mind, there exists a noticeable printing amidst of white walls which overwhelm the area saying ‘EXIT’ along with the installed steel gate upon the ‘entrance’.

I have found this contradiction perform very erotically in which similar to the gesture of seduction.   The architecture says yes, though its elements prohibit one through his/her judgmental conscience.
Likewise, A patient willingly strip for her doctor for diagnosis is nothing near erotic, but the striper teasing guests concealing secrete anatomy is provoking, mysterious, and arousing. 

2.      Seduction

This is the image of biota designed in front of the Tokyo Imperial Palace, Japan. The trees in the images are Zelkova serrata (or Japanese Zelkova). They consists of very small, sharp, yet numerous leafs upon their branches.  Looking from a distance these leafs lead the focus of eyes to perform in strange manners: continuous change of focus. This unremitting change of focus causes the eyes to be unable to perform instantaneous capture and translation of image resulting in blurry, yet alluring perception.

Similar to the previous image, the space itself is overwhelmed by these Japanese Zelkovas layering in irregular orders; however the field is prohibited for trespassing making it incapable to investigate.

 

  

3.      Intimacy-Entwine

This is the image of the ceiling captured in the Murchies café, Victoria-Canada. Unlike seduction gesture of previous images, the light and the texture on this ceiling performs in different value of erotic. If the previous two are meant for seduction, this one is probably an intercourse: the two similar elements (even not in form but as in obscurity) which don’t stand out on its own yet are made noticeable by manifesting upon each other. Personally, this relationship of the two elements explicit rather than lust but intimacy which make visible via their nomination upon each other content.

4.      Dismantle

Another subjective gesture of erotic, the two totally incompatible installation of facades together explicit the gesture of revealing /stripping, even though they are both very cosmetic and both are mantle.
