Jaa's proposal amphibian shophouse

This project is focusing on inventing new typology of shophouse structure in order to deal with flooding problem. By attaching new moveable/floatable system as shown on my master axon.  Well, according to erotic theme, the advantage of floating water effectively to the space inside shophouse, varies height of platform also separating the space as well. The occupants will experiencing the amphibian shophouse by jump around, climbing the little over height platform, and feel the motion of water just like when you in a boat. Most importantly, uncoated structure provided the idea, true love of building materials, from my installation concept ‘feel me’. All exiting old columns, adding beams are unhidden. There will be humidity problem from water as well but it’s solving by both facades that are well ventilation and sunlight explosion. You will touch the feeling from nature in contrasting with mechanism and building materials. The site is Chaophraya riverside (project4). However, if in 50 years Bangkok is totally flooded, the newbie amphibian column could be attached to any shophouse as well but for now it would be better to try along riverside.

My selected site is shophouse aside of chaophraya river, the reason i chose this site is to research about how people live before, during, and after the big flood in 2011. (as shown on diagrams) 

I've founded that even Chophraya river have been the river of life since the very beginning of bangkok until present days. Thus, traditional thai lifestyle have been wrapped over with commercialise facade, instead of housing or house boat like earlier days. nowadays we mostly see hotels, condominiums, and restaurants. my first selected site was wang-lang pier. there are market, restaurant, street vendor, residential and impotent hospital on the area.This research leading me to an idea of Amphibian shophouse that can survive boat dry and wet climate.

Guests rarely want to touch him at first. 

What I can feel was they were scared and excited. 

After awhile guests starting to slightly touch then hug him when 

it confirmed that they not getting any dirt.       

Personally, I think erotic is result of interaction between two or more things. For example, my previous project, one of photos was an interaction between light and floor of old building which was used for many years, it reflecting shadow and texture of the floor. The picture expressed a passionate of movement. So that why for me, erotic means an interaction between twos. 

For installation, I’ve investigated that ordinary emotion of a person is fear. Fear make you aware of something new, in my case, the installation was a painted cable human sculpture, which express dark feeling both by itself and its location. So at the beginning, all my guests were aware of coming close but later on they started to get familiar with the cable statue, they start to FEEL my installation. Subsequently, I realize erotic is not just about dark side of emotion it could be enjoyable.

The space provided building materials, which was fitted to my first idea that I want to play with exiting building materials. Plus, this cctv camera not only guarded corridor but room behind the door is electricity control room.

Site Analysis

I decided to place the cable man on corridor but when I put real statue on the site it have to hang on the upper boxes as you see in first picture.

How to make cable man (drawings)

1. 50 of 4 meters cables tied together.

2. Hang it, and then make its structure with another line of cable.

3. Weave it together and add more cable.

4. Making body part. Divided legs and tie it with more cable.

5. Add his arms. Color it.
