The Erotics field, Sukhumvit Soi 38.

Sukhumvit Soi38 was located in the central area of Bangkok which surrounded by soi Thonglor and many of the community malls. The soi itself became a very popularity well-known for the night food market which have the users in both of Thais and Foreigners.

The transformation of the soi between the mid-day and night are totally different. The flows and the space that was occupied by the restaurant in the ground floor of a shophouse were increasingly pop up in the night which during in the mid-day does not. 

The typical typology of shophouse in this soi is still the same however, some of them might have more or less storey. Another things that make the soi became a very well-known is because of the infrastructure like BTS and the Thonglor intersection and public transportaion.

                

This caused the main problem in the soi that the spread out of the space from a shophouse makes the circulation gone ruined and the eating areas from each of the shophouse are limited.

Site Analysis : Showing the figure of the ground space, Shophouse area, The height of the building, The circulation and Overlapped in plan view. 

Transportation : The percentage of the transportation in the site and the Public Facilities.

Similarity in Front and Inside : The similarity in front and inside of each of the shophouse might different. Some of them sells noodle but in the fact there are the coconut-ice cream inside.

 Transformation : The space that was occupied by the shophouse owner during nid-day and in the night

Users : The Diagram showing the percentage of the users in this soi during in the night time.

Street Vendors and Shophouse(s) Typology : Separated by the color coded diagram, showing individually the purpose of the street vendors and shophouse selling time, most of their client nationality, the peak time and the short description.

Behind the Scenes

The model's component are made of Chan-oy, Balsa wood, 5 inches hard-paper, foam core

also the 5 inches foam thickness is considered to use as a base, offering the easy and strong basement in terms of transportation and to set-up.

The joints were set in every columns and beams. The interlocking beams system that connected to every columns in each floors were use in both side of the model. Thus, the

model itself was strong enough and hard to collapse.

Toey's Shophouse research "Shop-office's Facade"

This video animation is showing the construction by using the joint system on the model production. This shophouse itself is further more being a shop-office where it purpose is to sell the project "I'm Park" at 3 yarn area. The facade of this building is the huge commencement ads, completely conceal the building surface. So, this video is trying to show about the historical/possibility of the facade moreover, the construction of this highly customized thing and to make this facade by using a beams and columns are considered to add in this video.

The installation "The Unexpected Curiosity" as itself that makes the 

visitors getting to curious with as its name. The first installation from the 

picture above showing the connection between the audience and the lightbulbs 

which both of them are still remained and related with the conceptual idea that 

was about the "curiosity" and "turn something ordinary to extraordinary" 

OBSERVATION AND SUGGESTION

During the presentation time which my time slot shifted up to around 6:45 PM

In that time, the atmosphere and darkness are looking good for presentation.

When Ajarn and the Guest students came into my first encounter, they look

curious by the lighting at the handrail which normally it is not suppose to be here.

I explain them who does't know about how my installation works by introducing that

"There are three encounters which are completely unrelated but it will related by 

something up there"

By the second encounter, the portable desk-lamp did it good purposes,

the visitors stop by the label "Please Keep Right" on the wall and then, I lead 

them to the third floor which they have to pass through all of the extended nails

from the wood. In this stage, the audience, some are afraid of nails but some 

just go through it by fast. This is because of the space between the wood and

handrails are getting too far from each others. The suggestion from Ajarn Pan

is too make it more narrow so the audience will be more aware from its effect too.

The last encounter which was the label to make them looking down to the ground

floor is going very fast. But most of them know what "10.5 M." on the ground floor

means in terms of this. Lastly for "The Answer", I lead them to the staircases and tell 

them to take a rest by sitting. The projector projected the Adobe-flash of Hua-Med and 

again,this goes very fast and some of the visitors need more time to sitting. I understand

that they might being exhausted by waking through all of the presentation at that time.

It was very fun with instructors and guests who participated with my installation.

However, some of them might still thinking about what those encounters stand for.

Nowadays, their were many people who still didn't know in terms of the main 

definition and the purpose of Hua-Med. For myself as a Nisit in this faculty, 

honestly, at first I thought Hua-Med just only used for the symbols for this architecture

 faculty. But since I did research about its history, there are many interesting 

stories about the variation series of Hua-Med in Thai's history. 

Moreover, Hua-Med also being one of my inspiration to create this installation too.

HUA-MED INSTALLATION

As know as "The answer" of this installation.This is what 
the audience will see after they reach to thetop floor, in this case is 
a 3rd floor.The inspiration was from the movie which is Babel and 
Amores Perrosthat was about a three interlocking stories all connected
 by thesingle story. From the encounterNo.1-3 as a (from left to right)

Emphasis entrance, Create the Boundary and Highest Component.

Those things are all related to Hua-med as its main purposes. 
In another hand, we can call it as a "Movie Script"

Separated by the color coded diagram. All of the encounter and the answer are 

line up vertically to the room408. The Red area is for the Encounter No.1 take place

in a main stair's handrail. The blue area for the Encounter No.2, the audience will

see the label "Please Keep Right" on the Ajarn Narj Meeting Room's wall, then,

the wood with the extended nails will be in the center of a staircase as shown as the

hi-lighted blue area in the center of a stairs. The last Encounter No.3 was the label, 

forcing the visitors to look down into the ground represent as a green area on 3rd floor

also the green label that was on the ground floor will receive the audience's vision above 

once more. Lastly, The Answer which was the yellow area will be set on the 3rd floor

on the room408 wall. The hi-lighted area on the stair is a seat for the audience.

Above from the seating area which also hi-lighted in yellow color is for 

the projector to give the answer to the audience "Hua-Med"

INTENDED EFFECT
The installation work by the human curiosity that effected when they first saw
the three different encounters. The installation line up vertically,
take place on a main staircase of the faculty which they forced the visitors 
to goes up to the top floor where the answer is waiting to show up to the
visitors. While they are going up by a stairs, they might think what the
respond will indicate, this depends on their own visitor's though.
Some might get an "Unexpected" effects.

INTENDED DIAGRAM

Showing the intended effects from visitor's curiosity when they go through

all of those three encounters, starting from the ground floor until they reach into the 

top floor which indicated by "The Answer" for both of those encounters and visitor's 
curiosity.The differences of opacity's level from "Question Mark" symbols represent as 
a visitor's curiosity that increasing by the encounters. When it reach into the last one, 
it willindicated as a completely black and restraining by "The Answer" as a yellow color.

MATERIALS

I think this is the good opportunity to separate the installation 
myself individually because each of them are also composed 
by the different materials and constructions.

Encounter No.1
"Emphasis Entrance"
The installation's construction materials are considered with the
lightbulb connected to the plug around security guard's desk at
Aj. Narj Hallway, set up on the top of the handrail to represent as a 
"Hua-Med" that used to be on top of the short pillar on every stair. It 
purpose is to emphasis the entrance so, using the light in the 
7pm is the advantage.

Encounter No.2

"Create Boundary"

The installation's construction materials are considered with the label 
and the wood with many of the extended nails. The height of the wood 
are all the same, 150 centimeter to getting more interaction from the audience 
that consider as the average height from both of men and women. Also for the 
label "Please Keep Right" that has the portable desk-lamp projected from the 
floor is to get an attraction from the visitors too.

Encounter No.3

"Highest Component"

The installation's construction materials are considered with the 
labels that were all printed by black color for the background and white 
color for the text. The audience will see "Look At What You Achieve" and the 
arrow which pointed down into the ground floor. And then the label "10.5 M." 
will indicated the height from those area where the audience are standing, 
bending themselves down to the ground floor and taking a view.

The Answer

"Hua-Med"

The last installation's construction materials are considered with 
the projector to projected the Adobe-flash of Hua-Med into the 
plain-white wall. (Actually that was the mirror that concealed by the 
three big white sheets) From the landing to the wall in the room 408. 
The stair became the seating area for the visitors, waiting to receive 
what they are waiting for. "The Answer"
