The Pulling Intersection
Expressway of Rama 6 Rd. - It looks bare and naked from the under, which
is a view we don't usually see them unless you took the shortcut into soi Ari.
The curvature and the intersection point of the entrance and exit of the express way
actually emphasise the curvature even more. Having both the express way at different
level of height has made them dramatically differ in terms of contrast. The one on the left actually receives the light that bounces off the ground, while the other one on the right is too low to receive the light making it quite dark and it actually enhance the contrast. The shape does also looks like
it is pulling everything into the point where they both intersect and it give a feeling of a pulling forces.
The Curving Straight
Facade of Central World - The structure and the glasses have made the architecture looks
very naked and seductive. The cleanness of the white finishes and the darkness of the structures
does also play a lot of roles in here making it even more seductive. the contrast in this
picture is so much that it give me a feeling of power and connection between two
element (white and black). The way they meet at the centre vertical line is also giving the feeling
of pulling force just like the previous picture. The perspective effect does also play a lot of roles
here; it give the distorted spectrum of line that actually create a imaginary curvature on the straight and stable structure.
The Dark White
Ceiling of Central World - The structure and the window of the ceiling is playing the illusion,
and by illusion it give the architecture a very erotic sense of structure. Having the white structure beside the white sky is tricking us to think that the white in architecture is dark colour instead, when compared to the real white-blue of the sky. The curving structure of the window is also playing a important roles for this illusion as well, it create a very erotic sense of structure that separate the architecture from the nature. The way the ceiling is cut into ribs is making it look more structural and which seem naked to me. It inform the viewer more of its own structure making the viewer and the building a little bit more intimately related to each other.
The Organic Architecture
Screen of Rex Hotel - The screen is being so curvy and organic-like. It is wholly white but with the play of light it looks mysterious by the gradient it created. The reflecting glasses behind that
reflects the picture is also helping the architecture to looks even more mystical and give the viewer more curiosity. The surface of the screen is also rough and this have made it feels even more organic. It feels porous and soft just like a tissue of human skin. It feels like the building is being torn apart and this is actually the inside, naked, part of the building, that is consisted of light and darkness within oneself. It emphasise me the idea of dilemma which only occurs in living creature.
