K's Documentation and Post-Analysis on "TAKE TIME"

We only see the shadow from the outside.

Some responses from the people outside:
"Wanna know what they are doing inside. Only hear the sound. Wanna go in."
"Only see the shadow and sometimes their feet."
"Think (in a dirty way)"
"Exciting and arousing"

People who get to experience the space described the space after experiencing it:
"Peaceful"
"more spacious than expected"
"Silence"
"Hot"
"Romantic & Private"

From those who experienced the space, the longer time you spend in there, the lesser time you think you spend (ex. spend 30min, thought it was about 20min)

Here are some drawing from people who get to experience the space:

Starting from my first work, erotic architecture photography, I define the word 'erotic' as something mysterious and sneaky. Something that when I see, I wanted to find out. My photographs turn out to be just like that. It's somehow refer to voyeurism, to peek and want to know what's next or what's happening. As the project moves onward  my idea of erotic started to shift to something like conquering and absorbing, to slowly interact with the space and absorb it. So in this project, I use those two meaning of erotic. Inside, people were meant to slowly absorb the space by take time in it. But not just that, on the outside, people would be suspicious and wanting to know what's happening in the inside. Some peek for an answer, some listen. I think it works quite well for both the experience inside and outside.

  1. In my opinion the piece was really delivering in many ways. One was the fascinating transformation of an otherwise very banal space. The fact that the site was well known to me obviously enhanced this fact.
The experience was very compelling and quite pleasing. You managed to create a very comfortable and even cosy atmosphere with very few means, which is always fascinating. I really hope you remain aware of how much one can do with so little in your future projects since you have the tools for designing and representing very subtle and delicate transformations of space that generate new atmospheres.
The only aspect that seemed improvised was the interaction between the inside users and the outside users (or perhaps those should be called spectators). This was a very strong factor determining the experience and perhaps was slightly left to spontaneity. I do think you could get advantage of this, since people on both sides of the curtain are having different but equally intense experiences, so it should be considered. The video shows very interestingly this aspect: what's happening on each side and the extreme contrast that such an ephemeral boundary (a curtain) creates. This, I believe, can be a very fruitful strategy to further develop in your project.
Congratulations of a great piece of work and a very successful installation.
