TURBO by Baptiste Debomberg
Turbo is an installation of Baptiste Debomberg. This
installation represents the turbo wave of the 80’s, which left the significant
mark on Western Europe cultural situation at that time. The superiority is what
a turbo gave to the one who have it. Not only the sound but also the physical
power that turbo impact to the users.
‘Turbo’ has various versions. Some of them looks like the
wall trying to escape from itself and run into us, the other version have an
appearance of a hole on the wall that pull us in.

CESIUM by Baptiste Debomberg
Cesium is the name that Debombourge called his installation.
Assimilated human being to be potassium, cesium-137 distorted our body by its
toxicity. The installation changes the atmosphere of the space that it was
placed in. The distortion will change due to the distance and the angle between
the installation and participants.

The crack by Doris Secedo
The crack by Doris Secedo took place in the main
entrance lobby of Tate Modern in London. The installation was made while the
gallery was close for a period, and when it open again there was a crack on the
floor unexpectedly. It’s 167-meter long, widening to a few inches and around to
feet deep. It represents the experience of being the outsider of this world.
After the exhibition, the crack was filled in. However the crack left its mark
as a ‘SCAR’, which will remain perceptible.

The translation of the spaces into abstract diagrams is perhaps that, too abstract...
ReplyDeleteIn future research projects you should aim for a clearer definition of the spaces that is objective prior to jumping into abstract representations, that are subjective.
Regardless, I appreciate the effort in trying to depict the feeling of the space through graphic means.
