Kendo's Installation Development: "Perception"

Work Development

8th Floor Elevator hall area

First development   "Upside Down"

First conceptual design is creating an experience of an environment that conflicts the norm, calling it “gravity shift” as if entering a space where users will be gravitated “upwards” or literally standing on the ceiling. The users will feel as if it is only them (people) who have this effect and not the environment. The installation simply brings in a dinner scene as the medium to make users involve. It mocks up a section of an assumed restaurant space, and users will get to engage in an activity within this space. Users are to be prepared to be served with food.
Ultimate Development
After that,The installation simply brings in a dating dinner scene as the medium to make users involve. It mocks up a corner of an assumed restaurant space, and users will get to engage in an activity within this space. Users are to be prepared to feed and to be fed by looking at reflection from the mirror! The usage of mirror is made necessary by having a solid partition to limit the two users to see each other face to face. This aims to create some intimacy by using “unconventional” and “anomaly” as the concept. The game is made more challenging by the choice of food and eating utensil, having to feed noodles with a fork and knife and Chow Kuay jelly with chopstick. The users will be guided with step-by-step instructions. Requiring some effort and teamwork in achieving something that technically can be achieved easily in real life will reveal each other’s character more.

as a dining scene

A couple is able to be sitting opposite to each other having a partition preventing them from seeing each other face to face. In order, For them to see each other they have to use the mirror by using the sight of the reflection.
