Khim's installation drawings: "A Tainted Purity"

Axonometric Drawing:  The installation involves controlling the light intensity within the room by covering the glass windows with 1.00m x 3.00m black fabric per each frame. This prevents the room to be affected by external factors such as street lights and disturbance which may distract the audience away from the installation.

The area of projection was chosen to be at the corner of the room. The projector was lifted 1.20m above ground with a 0.80m desk in assistance of a 0.40m stool placed on top in order for its angle of projection to overlap with the room's corner. The image framing projected was 2000x1000 pixels.

Construction:  The animation contains 1939 frames within 80.4 seconds. The image was rendered separately in Rhinoceros and imported into Flash. The set up was on 24.00 fps with 25 renderings carried out similarly to the method of a stop motion or a frame by frame animation where the images are aligned next to one another to create a brief movement.

Intended Effect:  To emphasize the 'purity' of the still, mundane space of the site triggered by an event of making the audience stare into a blank canvas for a period of nearly 30 seconds. This is done to "engrave" an image of the untainted surface into the viewer's mind.

The audience is expected to start off with a very faint or no reaction towards to the projection, and gradually increase in focus as the crumbling effect gets more aggressive. While at the end of the projection a crumbled space is returned to how it once was, as a blank canvas in representation of the rumors that easily appears and fades away, the audience is expected to be tricked into returning to their normal expression and shocked by a sharp slash towards the end of the projection which, too, will fade away.
