Kamsai's installation development: By Chance

CONCEPT

KINETIC ART

In this observation, I analyse how the 'climax' can be created by looking at the Kinetic Art video. The most commonly used method is balance and gravity to create movements. In order for the object to move in a specific direction, they use tracks or rail to guide the object through space.

DESIGNS

There are two types of circuit that I initially came up with. Type one is when any positive wire can react with any negative wire. Type two is when only one positive react with another particular negative. First, I plan to use wind in order to create movement, but there is no perfect site. So I plan to install it in front of a threshold in order to make people walk through in order to create movement.

PROCEDURE

A field of wire is created to represent the possibilities of random meeting. With 3V battery, when the circuit is completed by two metal balls meet, the signal is sent to the motor, causing it to lower down the string soaked with dish soap, it is the trigger. The dish soap will loosen the surface tension of the milk, causing the milk to expand, which is the climax. The food colouring are used to show this effect. After a while, both colours will merge into one.

SITE ANALYSIS

The site I choose is in front of the faculty's entrance, the Tiger Cave. This is a public space that is widely used by almost everyone in the faculty. In front of the site is a path leading to different areas of the faculty. The site itself is also a path, having the left side facing the palm court, and the right side facing the football court. Behind the screens is a canteen. So I decide to install my work here, as the purpose is to make two people meet each other.
