Pear's installation development: "Fairy's Trap"

1st Development - Losing balance softly
Site: Stairways on the ground floor

I stared by thinking of a space that could fulfil the tactile desire of a fictional "Studio Fairy" that lives around the faculty who is not very fond the mundane space. To bring the fairy here, a play space would be suitable for her.

This is a representation of a kiss where everything becomes dreamy and fluffy and you lose your balance along with it. As people usually walk on a solid, stable surface, if the floor is changed to soft, elastic fabric, it’s harder to stay balanced. With an addition of bubbly handrails, everything around the user becomes soft and dreamy, just like a kiss.

The tripping hazard isn't so inviting so the concept is changed along with the site.

2nd Development - Fairy's Trap
Site: 7th Floor Staircases in front of the Studio
Reason: There were support (rail) on only one side which isn't suitable for the installation

The concept is still similar to the first one but instead of the tripping hazard, it’s more about not walking anymore. The user will interact with the space by not walking on it. The installation is now a huge fabric bag, filled with plastic and foam balls, supported by a net which is tied to the rails. And now this could be a trap to lure the fairy in.

The inspirations are from airplane's evacuation slide where the user descends by not walking on a soft surface and hammock

3rd Development - The final form
The 2nd development has a very "hairy" form and seems unattractive at all so I got rid of the net and pink. The plastic balls and foams are still part of the fillings but they're now dominated by pillows. The color is changed to white to match the stairs' color as the main goal for this installation is to alternate the way people interact with the space not to spark their eyes.

         Onwards to the final!
