Sky's Documentation and Post-Analysis on 'Proxy'

The image and the only image that we can see while in the installation, the tree. Surroundings are covered with darkness, giving people a high focus sight on the only light area.

After turned the lights on, you can see a clear differences between the two, the area and atmosphere completely changes. While turn on the light, the site is just cover by a big mess of black materials, however when all the lights are off the atmosphere of the installation suddenly feel intense.

This video is taken while people walked into the installation, the only view we all could see is the image of the tree, again.

Responses

Some people who went into the tiny narrow gap expressed and mutter their feelings out:

"Why so small"
"It's hard to walk"
"Hot and humid"
"Creepy"

  1. The installation documentation is very effective in showing what the point was. Perhaps the photographs with lights on are unnecessary since that could be shown through drawings to not reveal that much.
The installation was compelling, although it was very vulnerable to uncontrolled distractions in the site. When designing, you should consider all factors to perform in your favor, otherwise your experience becomes fragile and dependant on uncontrolled elements. Therefore you should be aware of all routine conditions and respond to them, not neglect them, so that they enhance the experience.
The message was slightly cryptic, difficult to discover what the installation was about given the amount of distraction, although for me, knowing what the intention was, it became quite effective.
